I. PPE Manual - 6. Working with the editor - b. The Grid

The grid always resides on the current working plane. If you start PPE without any modifications, you will see:

The green and blue lines are part of the grid and therefore are both in the same plane. Should you at first think the blue lines are in a plane above the plane of the green lines, then this is a optical illusion. The Grid is equidistant everywhere. However, the grid lines (in green) are only drawn near the origin. To be more exact, they are drawn for the coordinates -10 to +10. After that, a line is drawn only every tenth grid line. These lines are blue. When you have "x100" selected, then even further out, lilac lines are drawn, which are even further apart. The display of the green lines can be disabled with the "x1" button and of the blue lines with the "x10" button.

When you have "Cursor/GridSnap" selected, the cursor will snap on the grid. When you move the cursor, you see it jumping from one intersection of the green lines to the next.

To see the grid in action, start PPE and use num-keypad-"3" to move right. Wait until the right most green line is about in the middle of the screen, then num-keypad-"0" to stop movement. you will see that the cursor jumps in the right half of the screen also. This is because the grid is equidistant, although the display of the grid is different near the origin and away from it. Now please turn off "GridSnap" and the cursor will move freely.
