Of course the simple meaning of the name is that it is an editor to create/edit polygonal models that are intended to be visualized (for example, in a game). Hence Pretty Poly Editor. However, there is a double meaning that may be lost to non native english speakers. The mascot of PPE is a parrot, like the penguin is a mascot for Linux. In the USA "Polly" is a de'facto name for a parrot. Also people who are teaching their parrots to speak often teach them first to say "Pretty Poly".
